[TYPO3-50-general] No backend on ubuntu server

Hi

I just installed a brand new ubuntu server with the newest version of php

when i try to open the frontend, it renders no problem

but when i try to click the link "backend"
i get a 404 page, the page that generates a 404 is : 
192.168.1.23/typo3/login

can somebody please tell me what i am doing wrong
