For example if you make a software that uses a GPL framework (like  
FLOW3).
Then your software MUST be of a compatible license, GPL is your own  
option I think.
So when you sell this software to your customer, you have to give the  
source up-on request of your customer.

Did I understand you well in the above case???

This is one of the objections some people give of using a GPL license  
for frameworks because
it doesn't allow a company to make/modify/sell software without giving  
the source.

It's one of the reasons why some companies use PostgreSQL over MySQL.
PostgreSQL is BSD so it can by modified and sold without giving the  
client the source.
Some large companies do and make huge business out of it. Often you  
will see exactly these
companies provide great patches and feedback back to a BSD licensed  
software project.
