[TYPO3-50-general] Typo3 5.0 on a virtual disk image

Hi all,

Following the post about Typo3 5.0 on windows, there is something I wanted
to suggest for quite some time now.

What about producing and maintaining a virtual image of a LAMP installation
with Typo3 5.0 and some linux distribution ready to rock and roll ? VMware
offers a big repository filled with such appliances, including a Typo3 image
(see http://www.vmware.com/appliances/ and
http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/933 )

People would just have to load the image inside VMWare player or Xen and
they could instantly give a test drive to Typo3 5.0 and eventually start
developping / collaborating very easily. This could also make a unified and
mastered development platform, though I'm not so sure it is the best option
since it would prevent detecting the bugs wich occur in heterogeneous
environments.

This could as well be a nice mean of distributing the final versions of
typo3 5.0 aside with current WAMP/XAMP distributions.

We all know setting up a Typo3 environnement is long and quite complicated,
at least the first times. This strategy would help Typo3 becoming more
popular for sure.

Also server virtualization is currently taking off and more and more web
hosting providers in the future should propose the ability to run virtual
images straight out of the box. This is not a reality yet, but logically it
should happen.

We could also propose in the end a high security Typo3 distribution
featuring Typo3 + mod_security application firewall + SNORT intrusion
detection tool + a nice Iptables script.

Just a bunch of ideas. What do you guys think ?
