You can skip that, because the file permissions are mostly valid on shared 
hostings. You might want to fine tune them later (e.g. remove excessive 
permissions), but it should work.

More of an issue is the requirement for a working CLI executable that is 
often missing or misconfigured on share hostings.

A shell is also very handy, because you will not have much fun if you do not 
have a shell to administrate your installation.
