I made the experience, that Kaspersky really really slows down the process (but I have to add that FLOW3 wasn't even an alpha yet). Couldn't figure out why (and stopped using windows at all), but without Kaspersky the requests were handled in 3 or less seconds (vs. 10sec++ with Kaspersky on).

Yes there is a lot of magic going on (that's why we love the flow) but not as much that it would need 20 seconds on a local machine. My guess is you forgot to set the right settings for PHP. Did you set the memory limit up to at least 256 MB? And I think there are some other recommended settings which you can find in the tutorial.
