[TYPO3-UG UK] Help - Special characters

Dear Denyer, Edmund and Piers,
at this point I'm pretty sure I'd better ask the person who took care of
the website at the beginning. I hope he'll have the time to explain me what
the problem was and how he (hopefully) fixed it, so that I can report back!
In the meantime thank you all for your kind help!
