[TYPO3-UG US] News items in Menu

Jim,
That's a great looking site. It rendered beautifully on my phone. I may
switch mine to that setup.
I used the Introduction Package, which came as part of the pre-set
install from my host 1and1.com.
I haven't used the Bootstrap package but it looks good.

To your question: menus/sub-menus with News items.

(I am going to make a guess here, so I may be wrong.)

If you are making separate pages for News Items then the menu will
indeed make a sub menu for them.
But the News system works a little differently. In the BackEnd, News
Items should be created by the News function in the main tree, which
manages News Items, which keeps them as a separate collection of items.
I don't know if that makes sense but they are not 'real' pages, but
items that live in the News manager.

I don't know if this will work right but here is a screenshot of my
BackEnd, with the items pointing to the News Items.

Notice the categories column on the far right. I have to remember to choose a category or they won't display in the list.

Anyway if I have missed the mark with your question, let me know.
Good luck & good job with that site!

Yes the example that you show in lights-go.com is exactly what I want to
accomplish. The menu system that I am using is the default menu from the
bootstrap package and it is a pull down menu system. The pull down menu is
causing the behavior that I am talking about here. If there is a single
page listed it works fine. If that single page has sub-pages the menu
system will skip over the single page and present the user with a list of
sub-pages to select from. This is frustrating when attempting to set up a
news page. I do not have news pages set up yet in the live site but you can
see the behavior that I a, talking about on the site www.haxtunberean.org.
On this site the page 'contact-usmap-html' is a standard page with nothing
in it. The menu does not care about that, it shows the the three sub-pages
to select from.

The problem with the news page is that the pull down menu will skip right
over it and show the sub-pages. That is way I put the sub-pages under the
page 'NewsPages'. The page above it 'News' is a link to 'News Pages'. The
pull down menu jumps to the link page and then to 'News Page' and all is
good.
