[TYPO3-UG US] Drupal vs. TYPO3

We run both Typo3 (for our main site) and Drupal (a small project site) and
we get this question in-house from time to time. Our preference for Typo3 is
based mostly on ease of management and its scalability. Certainly Drupal
wins points when it comes to a friendly* interface but I cannot see myself
using it to manage multiple, small to medium sized sites.

Mostly our users just want the backend to be as simple as possible and we've
been able to do that through various permissions and setups. When they are
ready to do more with their site than just edit we can easily make more
tools available to them. If they want to branch off into their own
subdomain, we can do that as well and keep them within the same install.

The original reason we went with Drupal for the project site was because at
the time (2006) Drupal had the edge in a cleaner editing interface and there
was a requirement that visitors could comment on every page. Plus the belief
that a community would develop around the site.

I don't know enough about Drupal to do a one to one comparison, but the
first thing I say when asked, 'why Typo3' is that it is a system we won't
outgrow.

*out of the box, you could probably set an active Facebook/ebay user onto a
Drupal site and they'd be able to figure out how to update pages.
