Don't mean to double post betweeen the new forum and this newsgroup but
in this case it is most useful ;)

I propose we experiment and combine TYPO3 marketing with newly generated
documentation focused on the list of vertical markets discussed. This
way we can focus on developing extension guides for our target clients
and the end users... not developers. I also think it's essential that we
differentiate ourselves from a "general" developer repository such as
Typo3.org.

Example:

IT/Administration - Template install/config, SEO (simulate static,
realurl, etc.), SOAP, LDAP...

Webmasters - css_select, metatags, realurl, loginbox_macmade... lots of
wigits!

Non Profits - rlmp_eventdb, cwt_community, chc_forum, pd_churchsearch,
photo_gallery...

Information Portals - tt_news, timtab, travelguide, ms_survey... we need
a yahoo style directory extension... hint, hint ruv ;)

B2B/B2C Marketing - dam, p2wlib, macina_banners, wec_flashpresentation,
mg_help, tt_products, th_mailformplus, direct_mail...

Multimedia - flvplayer, fe_mp3player, slideshow, etc.

The above is an example from doing a 5 minute scan of the repository. In
time I hope to focus on a larger list of preconfigured extensions for my
own marketing and business agenda.

There will be overlaps in these example categories naturaly. By
isolating groups of extensions in this manner this may help us organize
and prioritize for more narrow markets as opposed to general ones. If we
can pick out 20% of the extension repository that will serve us best and
our clients we'll have more than enough to keep us busy :)

I do B2B and retail sales for a living so I'm really hoping to
contribute some live examples of how this will generate business soon
after I go part time at my full time job.

Cheers,
Greg
