I think especially at the UI level, we should not make a patch a 
requirement. The rest of the points are valid. Get in touch with the 
Usability Team:

You can stay up to date by e.g. monitoring the Activity RSS feed.

Of course, that's the ambitious dream, that everybody follows the 
development. However, I understand it's not possible for everybody.
Nevertheless, I really ask you to test alpha and beta versions. They are 
created to get feedback for the upcoming release. After a release is 
always a bit late - however doesn't mean that a change can't be reverted 
in the next major release.

P.S. We should really mark the HCI-list as "dead/deprecated". Of course, 
sometimes there are postings, but it doesn't help so much, if the UX/UI 
team doesn't follow ;)
