Yeah.. Me too ;-)

Yeah.. I have this impression too.. My girlfriend sometimes click three
times just to make sure :-)
And I've told her numerous times that one click does the job just fine..

Great idea!

Easily! There are some bright minds sneaking around the community.

Yop!.. This the "main issue" for me.. This is THE most important button
in a browser. - Better make it work in typo3...

It's a possibility..
It's just that - well, I'm NOT saying that "windows" is the way to go,
but for me the big thing is to let users create their own "back-end"
using shortcut-icons etc, as most users have their own way of working in
   typo3, or any other program.
E.g if my mom or girlfriend opens Dreamweaver, they get so confused
about all the small buttons and features they will close it again after
MAX 5 minutes and feel VERY stupid.. They don't need "databases" or
"server behavior" or care to validate xhtml strict, when all they want
to do is build a simple page that reads: "Hi.. My name is Lasse's mom!
And I'm soo proud of him :-) "..
If only they had a way to configure Dreamweaver to only display the
buttons that are important to them, they would get their job done a lot
faster, with less frustration and more confidence! And then, as their
confidence and courage builds up, they can start to add more buttons and
options. All at their own pace.
This is same thing with typo3.
My mom could easily be the "standard dummy-user".. She would log in to
typo3 to insert some news and maybe this is the only thing she actually
uses in typo3.
The first time she logs in, it will take her - say ten minutes to find
out where she can add news, but when she does, she can make a shortcut
that will POP right into her eyes the next time she logs in - right
there on her personal desktop. This shortcut could even be there from
the start if the administrator knew that that was her only job, and
added it for her.
So the discussion about "windows vs tabs" or "double-clicking!!" is for
me *not* the big thing. Sure it's something to be discussed, but "the
big picture" and defining various ways to let users work, is waaay more
important and exiting..
