Problem:
Progress update does not work with Be-Compression

Solution
There were different causes to this problem:
 * outputbuffering ended at wrong location
 * very long timeout for screen update
 * a senseless setIndexRun call ( overriden by indexFiles
   called on the next line)

 * some autowhitespace cleanup
