Where? Any place where we use personal information. It's in fe_users, 
be_users, tt_address, etc. But I also cross-posted the first post to the 
general v.5. list because that will most likely also contain a record 
type for persons.

Instead of going again towards storing details about all possible parts 
of someone's name it seems more logical to just store the data for the 
various -- most used -- functions.

Because TYPO3 is used for websites it will most likely be used for 
letters (e-mails, etc.). But you have a point that there is often a 
(subtle) difference between the two.
