I've just completed my Bachelor thesis about RESTful Web Services and I
really liked the concepts behind it. I've thought about whether TYPO3
could offer such a RESTful Web Service itself or whether it is possible
to build a RESTful Web Service with TYPO3.
Unfortunately I'm not going to have too much time available to
participate deeply in building something like this but I really would
appreciate such a solution for TYPO3.
BTW: I think it's not only a matter of routing. I've played a bit with
extbase and tried to modify the "Expires" HTTP header field but I failed
and didn't pursue in this matter. It would be great to be able to build
a RESTful Web Service with extbase and being able to modify the Caching
HTTP headers.
Maybe FLOW3 offers enough possibilities to build RESTful Web Services.
It then would be a good idea to backport the necessary stuff to TYPO3 v4.
Did you know the "REST Litmus Test for Web Frameworks" by Stefan Tilkov?
[1] Could be a guideline on what TYPO3/FLOW3 should offer in regard to
have built-in REST support.
Greets,
Niels
