Hi,

I usually do it like this:

1. create all the fe_groups that are supposed to be available
2. create one additional fe_group called "userNotConfirmedTheirRegistrationYet" for example 
3. Upon registration the user is first added to this group
4. upon confirmation the user is put to one of the actual groups which have access to certain areas

Is that what you want to achieve? Or did I get you wrong?
