Yes, I just had the same thought..
And it would be a consistent solution, if people use the clearCacheCmd 
as described here: 
http://buzz.typo3.org/people/ron-hall/article/dont-wear-out-the-clear-cache-button/

Then the cache for the affected pages would be flushed if the plugin 
_or_ a BE user changed records..
