yes and no. an optionSplit can only be applied to iterable structures (an
array of records, a list of files...) and of course the TSobject which
renders that list must support this (plugins don't do this by default). 
afaik this is supported by *MENU, RECORDS, CONTENT (and possibly more) and
in tt_news 3.0.0dev.
