[TYPO3-RTE] toolbarOrder and button "insercaracter"

Daer RTE-Experts,

I'm trying to reorder the buttons shown in the toolbar with following
line in Page TSConfig, which is working in general:

toolbarOrder = bar, formatblock, bar, left, right, center, justifyfull,
bar, bold, italic, bar, linebreak, bar, insertcaracter, link, bar, copy,
cut, paste, bar, findreplace, bar, undo, redo, bar, about, bar, chMode

But in RTE the button "insercaracter" is missing.
I'm using TYPO3 4.2.2 with the latest htmlArea RTE 1.7.6 in typical mode
where the button "insertcaracter" is shown by default. (The missing
button is shown if I don't use toolbarOrder)
Any hint why it isn't working like expected?
