This is exactly what I don't want to do
I'd rather do something like this

   <renderlet:LISTBOX name="country">
     <data>
          <dataprovider:DB>
               <table>static_countries</table>
               <label>country</label>
               <fields>uid</fields>
          </dataprovider:DB>
     </data>   </renderlet:LISTBOX>

Any hints on how to do this ?
