The only documentation currently available is:

It is far from complete, but we could have no further contributions from 
the FAL developers until now.

There are some more examples here:

If that still doesn't help you enough, I would advise to directly ask 
questions in the typo3.dev mailing list.

BTW: please take care not to answer to an existing mail when asking a 
new question, as it will appear in the wrong thread in a news reader.
