After the share fonts became available it was also discussed here to use
them for the headlines. François already made some documentation samples.
Because the transition to DocBook started at that time it was decided
that no effort would be spent on the design of the current templates
because a new design is necessary after the transition to DocBook is
completed.

As a personal side note I must say that I was surprised that the Share
fonts are so hard to read. Looking at the way the glyphs are designed I
would expect them to be a lot easier to read.
It is also rather difficult to make good matches with other fonts due to
the very unique look of the share font. I would personally never use it
for anything other than a brand name or a small pay-off. (But again,
that is just my personal opinion)
