BTW this makes me think of the problem with versions and languages.

The IDs should take the language into account, otherwise there will be 
duplicate IDs within the complete file structure, right?

The problem gets compounded with Git branches and tags. As I mentioned 
in another thread I really wonder whether we should use branches and 
tags. For me the real version number to use is the one found inside each 
manual anyway ("productnumber" tag, see the sample manual [1]).
