Not stupid at all! ;-)
There are not that many people who are ready to work on documentation,
so your willingness to contribute is more than welcome. And you arrive
at a good time: we are currently restructuring the whole TYPO3
documentation, so there will be a lot of work in the future updating the
existing manuals or writing entirely new ones.
More specifically about Solr, the thing to know is that this newsgroup
is essentially dedicated to the general TYPO3 documentation. The Solr
integration is a TYPO3 extension. As such if you want to document it,
you should take direct contact with the Solr extension development team
(see the Forge project page [1]).
Now if you want to contribute to the general documentation - as I said
already - you are very welcome. I don't really have a task to hand out
to you right now, but the first thing you should do is go through the
recent threads in this newsgroup, so that you get a feel for what is
going on right now.
(Just a side note: please don't reply to an existing thread when
starting a new object, because the discussion threads all get messed up
afterward).
Cheers
