Thanks, Virgil. I think this will help kickstart some of the 
consolidation, and be a good test for working out a process. If you can 
keep track of what worked and didn't while you do this, that kind of 
"meta" information can help us decide how best to do this in the future. 
I've worked on some similar projects in the past, but not with this much 
information and I never took notes. It would be good to have some 
process feedback for anyone wanting to help who doesn't have that much 
experience in document merging.

Sounds good to me. Off the top of my head, since there will be some 
cross-linking, if someone is doing an upgrade, then they have already 
installed it at some point. So maybe do the installation guide first. 
Then, if information is also needed in the upgrading guide that is more 
than just a couple of sentences, reference it and link to it from the 
installation guide. I can't imagine how much would need to be 
referenced, but just as a process, what do you think would be the best 
way to do it? Maybe just wait to see what information is there, I guess.
