[TYPO3-dam] Virtual/non-local/URL based media in DAM

Actually our extension pae_medialibrary overloads the dam to do this (read the extension doc). It does only handle flash flv files though and plays them with jw_player. 
However I think I have read that the definition of media types has moved to a table in the latest dam versions and I am not sure the handling of the external media type is still functional with the newest versions of the dam extension.
