[TYPO3-dam] Customisation for image gallery

Hello,

I would like to create custom image gallery do display some custom
tags with images. While trying to avoid writing an extension I decided
to use DAM, but it seems adding custom fields or tabs with DAM is not
very flexible.
Maybe you could advise how to create your customizable image gallery
without writing an extension?
