[TYPO3-dam] external thumbnails for PDF files

Hi all,

my webhosting does not provide Ghostscript functionality with 
Imagemagick and will not provide it neither in future. But I'd still 
like to provide the thumbnails for PDF files. Is there a way to display 
jpeg thumbnails created outside TYPO3, stored somewhere in fileadmin 
tree with names matching the filename of the PDF file? Or is there any 
other way at all? Thanks very much for any hint.
