i'm not exactly sure if i fully understand. but thanks for the explicity.
i will try to re-enact your thoughts as far as possible.

for me and my projects it's just a matter of astonishment:

working frequently with CSS it was for me only natural that CSS classes  
could be integrated also for images, not only for text.
but typo3 seems to work totally different on images: you only have the  
possibility of fixed width and height in the RTEimage element (unlike  
other CMS).

therefore i changed my strategy and used only RTEtext elements, also for  
images.
and in the html window i added the CSS class for the images by hand.
this worked perfectly, until i installed DAM 1.1.0dev and all these in the  
RTEtext integrated images dissappeared in the FRONTEND.

interestingly enough: all images with RTEimage are shown as before.

since i have to use DAM because of it's wonderful treatment of meta data  
going back is not an option.

and using templavoila with FCE is also essential.

so i ask:
- is DAM ever going to detect images in RTEtext elements and treat them  
accordingly?
or
- is RTEimage going to have an integrated function for inserting CSS  
classes?

depending on the respective answer i will have to change again my strategy  
of how to integrate class-defined images in my elastic layouts.
