Exactly, this is the point. I can very well understand you here.

I think we all agree that we need a release manager that manages the
release and decides when a new version is ready to be declared final.
That person is Stucki, and he does it very well.

But what Joey is saying is that it was insulting to see the bug he has
reported as a blocker, some hours before the release changed to be
"minor" without further explanation.

So after all it was just a communication problem:
If Stucki would have written a bug note like...

"Sorry, Joey, I agree the CaptionSplit bug is quite annoying, but we
really have to release 4.0 now, because a lot of people are depending
   on it. We'll have a 4.0.1 soon!"

...this whole thread wouldn't have been necessary.

As far as I undertand, the problem Joey is writing about was not the
fact that Stucki decided which bugs are blockers and which not, but the
fact that Joey's bugs were changed from Blockers to Minors without
explanation.

So all the *general* discussion in this thread was basically useless
because we all agree that *generally* Stucki and Kasper are right in
deciding that at some point in time final has to be released knowing
that some Gremlins still exist.

cheers,
Ingmar
