Well, he might know about it, but not the customer - so I'd suggest to 
add the readable version of the attributes as subtitle. You can render 
the subtitle of an article on every stage you mentioned. Maybe this a 
option for you.

You could also do this dynamically using a hook I introduced in a patch 
for commerce [1] which also allows for virtual articles. I do this in 
the hook 'postAddArticle' and it works great (except of the BE which 
doesn't display the subtitle in the overview).
