[TYPO3-commerce] meaning of attributes in create/edit category

hi all,

what is the tab attributes in the category creation meant for? i thought 
(and that would be super nice), that the selected attributes for a 
category, are the default set of attributes for products in this 
category. but this does not seem to work. can anyone shed some light on 
this?
