Hi Michiel,

well it works fine for me.
I uploaded an image with 250px width and TYPO3 rendered it down to 150px 
width.

You should check you IMAGEMAGICK settings in the INSTALLTOOL.

I didn't change anything from the setup images settings. But you 
shouldn't switch to the old setup version with

defaultImgConf

because I only found this used in a depricated function I guess not used 
anymore.
I use svn version of commerce.
