[TYPO3-calendar] Search onchange Value

hi there,
how could one do an onchange submit for the search templates and 
prevent the selected Value.
waht I have now is

<select name="tx_cal_controller[location_ids][]" 
id="tx_cal_controller_location_ids" size="1" 
onchange="this.form.submit();">###LOCATION_IDS###</select><br />

but the select field id="tx_cal_controller_location_ids" doesn't get 
the selected value.

Any hints but be usefull.
