[TYPO3-calendar] nested categories and category selector

Hello all,
I'm trying to use the categories and parent categories system (typo3 4.5.22 , calbase 1.5.1).
So far, i've define thing like this
Parentcat1---Childcat1
                ---Childcat2    

If i create an event with Chilcat1, i find it when i search on Chilcat1 cat. But a search on Parencat1 show no result. 
In
 the category selector, Parent and chil categories are all shown on the 
same level, and i've got the same pb as in the search (ok through subcat
 selection, not parent).
I'm certainly missing something, any help would be appreciated.
