well, there is a difference in creating a calendar and an event ;)
rights.edit = 1
rights.create.event.public = 1
rights.create.event.fields.calendar_id.public = 0
rights.create.event.fields.calendar_id.default = //insert your calendar 
id here

should do the trick.
