I remember that we considered various Flash-based RTEs back then when "rte"
needed to be replaced. The reason for not choosing any of them was not the
fact of being Flash applications but rather the poor features they provided
at this time...

OK, that makes much more sense then ;-)

Have a look at t3lib/fonts/ that contains two truetype fonts. The
distribution contains only the files, but in SVN you will also find a
subdirectory "src" with the sources of it. Is this what you're looking for?
