Hi Guys,

in fact I think this depends on the current market in each country,
back in Germany the hourly rate for a good freelancer is around 50 to
55 Euros, this is at least my own experience, any rate above 55 Euros
makes it realy hard to sell the whole 160 hours average permanently.

Even in germany there are some guys who are willing to work for 25€
freelance, or even less (I remeber the adverts in T3n magazine from
some russian agency with a offer at 2500€ per month / developer).

I agree with all of you that, for freelance work, this is a real low
salary, but maybe for some students this would be ok.

I also don´t now what would be the average salary in Canada, for full
and part time work. A few month ago I got the offer of a friend of mine
to work part time at his big agency in hamburg, on regular terms, for
2500 € per month. We agreed that for me as freelancer this would be a
worse idea, though I am booked fulltime six month into the future, at my
avarage rate of 50 € - 55 € as programmer (65€ as Project leader). It
just made no sense for me, but for other, that are not booked like me,
or many others known in the community, an offer like that would make
sense, to get their bills payed.

To make it short,..

for a beginner, studying at college, this might be a good deal,..
you should not wait for any pro to hire at yours at this rate.

Just checked the rates in australia for php developers a week ago, in
down under the salary is at 60.000 - 90.000 $ per year (31,25 $ / h -
46,88 $ / h) on average terms... quite equal to germany.

So perhaps there is someone out there that would work for 8,5 $ / h,
but as I said, I don´t belife it would be a pro at typo or php,
exculding some that has to work for that less money to get his bills
payed, or loves charity work ;-)
