[TYPO3-install] can't get install tool password to reset

[Knapp]

I have tried everything I can find on the net but no luck. The MD5
that is posted under the password is the same as in the localconf file
per instructions. What else can I try?
New install running on local under kubuntu 11.10. I downloaded a
current version this week.
