Jerry,
I am a completely new to typo. One of our customers wanted to use typo3 and
I tried to install it. The installation of Typo3 was successful but Image
Magick dit not work.
My environment is Windows 2003 - IIS - PHP and I used exe-Files which
installed automatically but it was nesessary to change some of the security
settings during installation. So on a windows installation it seems to
require administrator possibilities to install typo3.
But it may be possible on linux-systems to install tha Typo3-package in your
own webspace when you are also able to manually define a database. For
installation the name of the database-server, name of the database, username
and password are needed.
But what I do not know whether the additionally necessary package Image
Magick can be installed.
Franz

I posted on the typo3-debian list but I think I should have posted here. I
am a complete new comer to CMS and typo3. I am using the latest version of
Ubuntu on a desktop which is not set up as a server. My question is: do I
have to set up my desktop as a server to use typo3? If my ISP has the
required apps (apache, php, mysql, etc) can I install and use typo3,
uploading to the ISP server?
Jerry
