[Typo3-install] What does <sitedir> refer to (in INSTALL.txt)

The INSTALL.txt file in quickstart-8.3.1.tar says this (about step 4 of the 
installation):

4. Set permissions (as root): There are at least two options.
  These steps will make four directories writable for the webserver:
  - fileadmin/
  - typo3conf/
  - typo3temp/
  - uploads/

 4.a (recommended)
     Run these commands as root:
     # chgrp -R <wwwserver> typo3_src-3.8.0/ <sitedir>/
     # chmod -R g+w,o-rwx typo3_src-3.8.0/ <sitedir>/

     ...where <wwwserver> is the name of the group your webserver
     is running as and <sitedir> is the name of the directory
     inside of this archive

My question is: does <sitedir> refer to the subdirectories fileadmin, 
typo3conf, typo3temp and uploads?
