[TYPO3-GSoC] WebDav support as a potential GSOC project

Hi everyone,

My name is Brian Wolff, and I am a second year Computer Science student.

I'm very interested in participating in Google Summer of Code this
year, and think that Typo3 would be a cool project to be involved
with. I previously participated in GSOC last year, for MediaWiki, and
would love to have the opportunity for another summer of coding with
gsoc.

In particular, I saw WebDav on the list of "random" ideas. I have a
little bit of knowledge of the WebDav protocol, and remember reading
up on it several years ago. While I'm quite new to Typo3, I can
certainly understand how it'd be useful for a content management
system to allow modification of various content items via WebDav,
given how WebDav is integrated into many operating systems.

The other idea that kind of looked interesting was the static file
caching. I'm unsure if it would be better to go with an idea that is
on the official idea page (vs the "random" idea list), since those
might have more interest from the general typo3 community(?)

I understand and apologize, that this email is a little last minute. I
don't really expect much response given the last minute nature of this
email, but would deeply appreciate any feedback I do get. I plan to
submit an official application very shortly (The official gsoc page
isn't working for me at the moment, otherwise I would have done so
tonight).

Thank you for your consideration,
-Brian Wolff
