[TYPO3-german] cwt_community: has anyone update experience?

hello,

I got a new customer with a typo3-site. 
There is installed a cwt_community 0.8.3.

because of the new feature of user-galleries an update to the newest 
version (1.0.3) is planned.
So I have not configured the the old version and this might be a bigger 
change (new major version number) I'm not sure about what is needed to 
update this extension.
has anyone some experience with an update?

any tips welcome
