[TYPO3-english] PDF thumbnails - formats - image size?

Hi,

thumbnails are generated in ext:news, but I think it is core feature, 
not of ext: news.

I have template where editor add media file (pdf publication - this 
generate thumbnail) and related file (again, same pdf), that way 
thumbnail is directly linked to pdf file.

But, in Install tool, only options are gif (not good) or png (huge size).
