'cause the register variable maxImageWidth has some advange:

If the image is as wide as the column, your right (exept f:image renders
always jpeg).
But if you put a Text/Image CE in the column the image is less (image
position: left/right to text).

I don't think there is an other way than using register:maxImageWidth.
css_styledcontent uses its constants in a very shophisticated way
(e.g. marginToText).
