[TYPO3-english] [TYPO3] Use Template From Another Location (Freesite)

I'm sure I'm missing something here but I haven't done a manual install before ... don't I need a .t3x file in order to install? I tried copying the contents of typo3/ext/freesite from your file to my /typo3conf/ext directory but that did not install the extension.

did you install the freesite extension? This should give you what is required. BUT please understand: I haven't touched this for more than 6 years.
