Before starting to even think about https you should start reading the
security announcements on TYPO3.org. Please do so and upgrade your customer
sites to the newest TYPO3 Version.

4.1.7 is simply unsecure as you should already know - especially after you
announce here on the mailinglist that you are still running 4.1.7 ;-)
