[TYPO3] Basic Smoothgallery question

I'm trying to put Smoothgallery on my page, folling the documentation:

I've installed the extension, and added the static template for 
SmoothGallery, and made a page with a "Text with image"
record in it's center column with some images, and the "Activate
smoothgallery" checked.

When I view the page, I get the default "hello world".  Is there
something I need to put into the typoscript to make the gallery actually
show up?

This is probably so obvious that it's not even mentioned in the
documentation.  How do I just make the slideshow show up?
