[TYPO3] Imagemagick slow on windows

I installed TYPO3 WAMP and managed to get ImageMagick to work on my Windows 
Vista computer. However, every time ImageMagick is used by Typo3 a black 
"DOS-window" shows up and it takes a so long time that TYPO3 gets a timeout, 
and I have to refresh the page in the webbrowser several times before the 
pictures are stored in the cache. It seems that something is slowing down 
ImageMagick on Windows. Do I have to set some parameters in Windows in order 
to get rid of the "DOS-window" or get it run in the backgorund? Or could it 
be some settings in the anti-virus or firewall software preventing 
ImageMagick to perform at acceptabel speed?
Anyone having the same problem?
