[TYPO3] cal extension performance

Does anybody have hints to make the cal extension.  We have very  
little data but the calendar still takes 30 secs to load.

Server details
Web: 2 x HP DL320 (2 gig ram, 2x2.8gig CPUs) Debian (Etch)
SQL: HP DL385 (8 gig ram, 4x2.8gig CPUSs) Debian (Etch)
