[TYPO3] 4.2 and Navigation Mode BE User Setting

I am one of those folks who was very fond of changing the navigation 
mode to "Icons in top frame" setting. This allowed small window size and 
quick location of functions as I moved around in the BE. But this option 
seems to be absent in 4.2 and I find I'm really missing it. Does anyone 
know whether this still exists but simply isn't visible in the UI for 
user settings now?

Condensed mode is /OK/ but I'm going to use precious horizontal screen 
real estate, I much prefer the ability to refer to the page tree whilst 
editing pages/content and not waste that with whitespace around the 
vertical function list. YMMV
